Visakhapatnam: The seventh Andhra Pradesh State senior men inter-district hockey championship got-off to a blistering start at Port Diamond Jubilee Stadium here on Saturday.

All three matches were lopsided affairs with the winners registering comprehensive verdicts over their respective opponents. Kadapa, riding on the collective brilliance of the team, crushed the hapless Prakasam 22-0.
Earlier, the four-day event was inaugurated by Dr SV Adinarayana, Director of Prema Hospital. Hr appreciated the organisers for bringing the sport to the port city.
Dr SKE Appa Rao, Executive President, Hockey Visakhapatnam and M Niranjan Reddy, Secretary, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, vowed to make the sport a popular attraction across the State, where talent was bursting at the seams.
