Hyderabad: Five players shared the lead at seven-under-135. A five-under-66 master class by Australian Kunal Bhasin helped him join four others in the lead- Mukesh Kumar (67), Abhijit Singh Chadha (67), Himmat Singh Rai (68) and Khalin Joshi (70) at close on the second day of Golconda Masters 2017 at Hyderabad Golf Club (HGC) here on Friday.

However, the cynosure of all eyes was the 19-year-old rookie from Kolkata Viraj Madappa with a stellar performance. He returned the day’s best score of seven-under-64.

Madapam the country’s amateur two seasons back, who stands tall literally at six feet two inches, seems to coming of age since a creditable tied 31st finish in his debut event as a professional last week in Noida.

All six Hyderabad-based amateurs, including Haider Hussain (74-72), the lone professional from the city, missed the cut. Rahul Ajay was the best performing amateur at eight-over-150. He was placed tied 79th.
