England fast bowler Tymal Mills was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs.12 crore at the IPL 2017 auction in Bengaluru.
Mumbai: England fast bowler Tymal Mills was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs.12 crore at the IPL 2017 auction in Bengaluru.
He became the second Englishman to go for a huge sum after international teammate Ben Stokes was bought the Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs.14.5 crore.
Mills made his debut against Sri Lanka in July 2016 and was also involved in the T20 series against India.
The 24-year-old has played in the Australian Big Bash League, the Bangladesh Premier League and also the Pakistan Super League but this will be his first outing in the Indian Premier League.
“Our strategy has always been very clear. We need to get our starting XI in order,” said RCB chairman Amrit Thomas. “If you look at the Bangalore wicket, it favours the batsman. It is a small ground. So we needed bowlers especially with Mitchell Starc not being available for this edition.”
“Tymal Mills was a great buy. He suits the playing conditions in Bangalore and we would have done whatever was necessary to get him,” he added.
