Meanwhile, defending champions Australia lived up to their billing, notching up a 4-1 win over lowly Spain to storm into the semifinals. Warming the bench for most part of the match, Indian goal-keeper Akash Chikte dished out a superb performance to hand India their first win of the tournament, a win that will erase all their wrongdoing of the pool stages.

While Gurjant Singh Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinderpal Singh were the goal scorers for India, Belgium's goals came from the sticks of Loick Luypaert and Amaury Keusters.
