Tweeple reactions to Steve Smith’s emotional press conference
Earlier, when the news of ball-tampering started doing the rounds, the Who\'s Who of world cricket spoke up
Steve Smith, the talented young cricketer and skipper of Australian Cricket team, had to resign from his post and also face a ban of 12 months for allowing ball tampering in the 3rd Test, against South Africa, in Cape Town. Australia has been losing up South Africa and in desperate attempt to help their bowlers find reverse swing, David Warner initiated the plan to use Sandpaper and Smith allowed it, while Cameron Brancoft executed it.
Steve Smith returned from South Africa and at Sydney Airport, Australia, he took full responsibility at the press conference and broke down, saying he couldn't face his father and mother after the incident. Twitter reacted to this in a kind of mixed way.
While some chose to believe him, few said he is taking tears and they are crocodile tears to get people support back. Here are some of the top and interesting reactions
Haven't Australia made enough of a spectacle of Steve Smith? I'm blown by what he is being put through.

Bancroft caught on camera, in graphic detail, doctoring the ball. Unlikely he’d get away with a “brain-fade” sham as Steve Smith in Ind. SA Board shd have more self-respect than India’s, Lodha-fied & knee-capped #SAvAUS

Steve Smith has to stand down as captain. Simple as that. Antithesis of a leader today, embarrassing our country by conspiring to cheat

Tough to watch Cameron & Steve go through the 2 statements they just made. They will learn from this & be better in the future I’m sure!

I don’t condone what these players did it’s not the Australian way! Not sure if this is the right punishments, but these players will need accept it & learn from this. They are human & they have made a huge mistake. I hope they have the right people with them in this tough time

DEVASTATING!

#Smith "I'm very sorry, anytime you make a questionable decision think about those you are affecting. Especially your parents."

Smith breaks down "to see the way it's affected my old man..."
sobs sobs and leaves the room #SAvAUS
Never understood this desperation to win. It’s not life, it’s sport after all. Even if you are a sportsman.#balltampering

In #BallTampering episode 2 facts: 1) Aussies didn't confess voluntarily. They were caught on camera & were forced to. 2) This isn't just a level 2 offence of ball tampering with 3 demerit points but a premeditated conspiracy to cheat. Smith/Warner/Lehman must get a lengthy ban

Fantastic camera work. He did not just catch Bancroft cheating, he caught the Aussie dressing room sending a message to say hide the sandpaper. They are all in on it...

What a brilliant team work😂😂😂 #CameronBancroft #balltampering #SAvsAUS #SandpaperGate #SteveSmith pic.twitter.com/QBJIUSFJKD
I would much rather see an Australian team lose badly, but play with guts and integrity. Always loved watching the cricket, especially a tough series. Un-Australian gets thrown around a lot, but this is a great example. Really disappointed #balltampering
