This might come as a treat to some of those hardcore Ubisoft enthusiasts, especially the Far Cry fanatics. Just when you thought of having better way of killing rhinos and elephants than just merely bombing them, the game maker has treated the world with what might be a revolution in the gaming scenario.

The new installment of one of its top selling franchise has gone back in time. Well, these aren’t the time when you are fighting for American independence; waging wars against templars or even being one of the reasons for the French Revolution to take place.

Titled, Far Cry Primal, the game takes you back thousands of years to when mankind was fighting for survival, going toe-to-toe with saber-toothed tigers with nothing but a spear.

This means the game will follow the regime of basic weaponry, extremely basic weaponry actually, unless Ubisoft's developers stretch things as far as they possibly can and the game's primitive protagonist crafts a Gatling Slingshot out of a mammoth's spine and a few wolf spleens.

It appears however, that the game will primarily feature bows and arrows, spears and variations of each – probably involving fire.

The story sees you as Takkar, who loses everything after becoming the last surviving member of his tribe, and must survive in the mysterious region of Oros.

Discussing the game's story arc, narrative director Jean-Sebastien Decant said, "All Far Cry games are about survival, and they're all about survival at first. Then it's going from being the hunted to the hunter."

The main character is being played by Elias Toufexis, who is best known for his work as Adam Jenson in the recent Deus Ex series.

While the last two Far Cry games have had additional multiplayer modes, this is described as a "single player experience" by Ubisoft, seemingly ruling out any additional co-op action. This latest action adventure will be released on February 23, 2016.
