This Diwali we bring you a few simple tips to decorate your home, which will not only bring positivity but give it an elegant and stylish look.
Layering:
It is a quick and easy trend that can instantly spruce up your home during the festive season. In the living room, layer sofas, divans and chairs with cushions of varying sizes and complementing colours to give a fuller look. In the bedroom, quilts can be layered with coverlets, rows of pillows and euro shams to create a more luxurious ambience.
Colour:
Colour sets the tone for any room. Rich colours like red, maroon, tangerine, etc that evokes a sense of luxury automatically set a festive tone for the house. Use pop coloured drapes in the living room, a row of gradient pillows, bathroom towel sets, colourful crockery, etc to brighten up the neutral tones of the room.
Play with patterns:
Mix and match and play around with patterns this season. Create your own unique look by combining intricate designs, ethnic prints, bold motifs and floral patterns in interesting ways by choosing from a wide array of bedroom products including quilts, mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, etc.
Carpets and rugs:
They give a refreshing and classy look to the entire room, they are ideal to make existing spaces more attractive. Use bright, shiny and pop colour carpets/rugs in the living room and bedroom with delicate patterns and designs.
Handcrafted decorative pillows:
Make an old sofa or loveseat look brand new. A beautiful hand crafted throw or quilt placed on a sofa or draped on the foot of a bed adds charm and warmth
Ethnic Touches:
Add a few small and subtle ethnic touches to different rooms in your house, which goes a long way in the look and feel of the entire home.
Towels:
They are inexpensive way to quickly dress up your home. Decorative towel sets also make a lovely holiday gift
Scented sachet:
Add a small scented sachet to your linen closet for a memorable scent. Floral fragrances work best during the festive season to keep the home scented and fresh.
Celebrate nostalgia:
Paint an entire wall or a prominent section of it in a bright pop colour and hang framed family photographs in black & white on that wall. This adds a touch of nostalgia to the room and adds warmth especially during the festive season.
