Get the table right

Table decor and design can go a long way in ensuring your party is a success. As much as a party is incomplete without food and drinks, so is the importance of the right table setting. Yet another reason to give attention to table décor is because it is in focus until the food is brought in.

Also, the other décor around the house is more or less constant – hence, giving a different look to the table brings about a refreshing change. In addition, creating a gorgeous table for your event adds grace and elegance to the overall experience.

Your table decor should match the overall colour scheme and theme of your party.

Table linens:
Linens come in a variety of colours, patterns and material and selecting the right one for your party will enhance your overall theme and experience. Linens or mats together add colour to your table and work as the background to the setting. You can opt for patterned or lace table linens to spruce up the look too! Jute also works very well to give a more rustic organic feel.

Crockery
White ceramic dinnerware with perhaps a gold rim is ideal for a formal setting. White is understated elegance whereas the golden border ensures style and class. Such a setting can never go wrong with your guests. Also, these are easiest to work with. I love mix and matching my dinner sets to create different looks.

Cutlery
Recently I have enjoyed using different flatware. My favourite being matt black. I feel they help in subtly adding style to the table. I also love rose gold & gold flatware. They add a lot of grace to the décor.

Glasses
Apart from the water glass, keep in mind what other drinks are being served and accordingly place the glasses beforehand.

Table accents
Creating a focal point on the table is very much necessary. Centrepieces come to play an important part here. For evening gathering, accentuate with candle or lights. Flower arrangements work well at any time. While using flowers, the colour of the flowers should coordinate with the overall theme. Small table planters or succulents also add to the overall appeal. Greens are very in this year; so go ahead and use them.

Other Accessories
Napkin rings, place card holders, small votives and other decorative items can be got on the table to further dress up the table.

I suggest to plan ahead; gather all your décor stuff you need, prepare as much as you can and keep it ready. Leave minimum for the day of the party as you might have a lot on your hands already.
