Diabetes like most lifestyle diseases is reversible, just by changing the lifestyle. In order to get rid of any problem, we should think about the cause of the problem and remove it.

While most people are told to stop sugar, and carbohydrates, the truth is no one gets well from this advice. Read on to understand some of the changes that you can make to prevent and reverse type 2 diabetes and to greatly improve type 1 diabetes.

Start the day with green smoothies and fruit
Interestingly you can eat any fruit, even in large quantities, and yet not see your blood sugar rise.

Eat plenty of organic vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are high sources of phyto nutrients. Nutrients are the spare parts for healing.

Eat whole grains and beans
These fill you up without raising your blood sugar.

Eat for fibre
Fibre cleans our body, and provides bulk. Animal products are completely devoid of fibre. Plants contain a lot of fibre. Avoid refined and packaged products where the fibre has been removed.

Consume organic foods
Pesticides are known to cause diabetes.

Avoid fat
Fat is found in oil, ghee, butter, as well as all animal products including dairy. Avoid fried foods, and cooking with fat. Avoid all animal products.

Avoid dairy
Dairy contains a host of elements that promote diabetes. Like all animal products, dairy contains fat without fibre. Being the natural secretion of a lactating female mammal, it’s also flooded with hormones that disturb the hormonal balance in our body. Since diabetes is a hormonal problem, avoiding dairy completely goes a long way in reversing diabetes.

Avoid tea, coffee, colas and addictive substances
Tea coffee and colas raise the blood sugar.

Avoid artificial sweeteners
They never help reverse diabetes but are harmful in other ways. The best sweeteners are dates and raisins. Yes, these are allowed.

Make sure vitamin D levels are normal
Low vitamin levels can cause diabetes. Supplementation may be required.
Exercise, go to bed early, and minimise stress.
