Farmers protest for irrigation water

Luxettipet: The farmers of Dandepally mandal on Tuesday laid down on the road blocking the vehicles of Joint-Collector Surender Rao, RDO Srinivas and Irrigation Department Chief Engineer, who were on their way to inspect Tanimadugu Lift Irrigation Project in the mandal.

The farmers complained that their requests to the officials concerned for the last four days to supply irrigation water in the mandal fell on a deaf ear. Following which, they staged a sit-in dharna on the road. Later the villagers withdrew their protest after the officials assured to do justice and by police intervention.
