The walls of your home have countless stories and memories of your time there. Let your walls express these stories through pieces of art. Here are some tips to keep in mind when buying art or décor pieces for your walls.
Size- The rule of thumb here is that art pieces whether it is a single piece or multiple pieces should ideally cover about two-thirds to three-fourths of your wall.
Spacing- Let your pieces breathe. Don’t clutter your walls. Instead, let your art pieces have some space to themselves. Minimalism is an ongoing trend and helps individual pieces on your walls stand out.
Colour- This is where you can experiment a lot. Your pieces can contrast or align with the colour scheme of your room or how they stand in comparison to other pieces on your wall if you opt for multiple pieces. As long as your colour scheme is complementary and not too out there, this is where you can have a lot of fun.
Trust your instinct- If you like a particular piece, invest in it. Yu can always put in a different room or place. In terms of buying pieces, it is also a good idea to go to auctions and art shows and support indie/local artists. It is easier on the pocket and supports budding talent.
Be yourself- While staying trendy is great, don’t lose your natural flair. Always get pieces that are quintessentially you be it photographs, posters, records or any type of art/décor piece. It is about expressing yourself. You can also look for quirky styling and positioning of your pieces to make them stand out.
