The saturation of job market being a big concern especially in the IT and the BFSI sectors, here is some good news finally coming in for job seekers in India. The Logistics sector is expected to churn out 30 lakh jobs in the next four years, as per a report by TeamLease. A large part of this growth is coming courtesy major investments by the government in infrastructure improvement and GST implementation which has formalised this sector and brought operational efficiency to a great degree.

According to this report titled "Indian Logistics Revolution - Big Bets, Big Jobs", the employment numbers in the Indian logistics sector are expected to rise the present 10.9 million to 13.9 million by 2022. Technology is having a profound impact on this sector as highlighted by this report.

"Logistics sector is going through an exciting phase with a number of public investments in line.of these changes alongside the interplay of sector demand – Manufacturing, FMCG / FMCD Retail and E-commerce – and technology will not only create innumerable jobs but also metamorphose the skills landscape for logistics," said Rituparna Chakraborty, Co-founder and EVP, TeamLease Services.

Government initiatives National Highway Development Project (NHDP) and Bharatmala Pariyojana will help create maximum number of jobs in road freight and regions such as Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad will be the biggest beneficiaries. Similarly, New National Waterways and Sagarmala Pariyojana will yield in job creation in water freight which will benefit places such as Allahabad, Ahmedabad, Guwahati and Chennai.
