76000 Data Analytics jobs are vacant in India: Report

The days of traditional data crunching, a method which was not just time-consuming but could not deliver actional insights in real time are long gone. Today, emerging technologies like machine learning and data science have increased the demand for Data Analysts in India. Despite the increase in opportunities in data analytics roles, as many as 76,000 data analytics positions are vacant in India. This is largely because of the huge skill gap that exists in India in the field of data analytics.

The large number of jobs in Data Science are not getting gilled because of a serious talent crunch that exists in the country. Various companies are hiring data science professionals to meet customer needs. A recent Analytics and Data Science Jobs Survey 2018 released by UpGrad, highlights the widening skill gap in the field of Data Science. 

The rapid penetration of technology and internet-driven services has helped several tech firms in gathering enormous amount of data. Data-focused organizations are collecting complex form of data, which can be analyzed by Data Analytics professionals. UpGrad’s report suggests that nearly 76,000 data analytics roles are vacant in the country. 

UpGrad offers tech-powered skills for IT professionals. Another report by Analytics Vidhya and Great Learnings talks about 50,000 vacant positions related to data and analytics in India. Indian techies need to acquire right skills to bag the available opportunities. In addition to the existing opportunities, industry experts and hiring managers are expecting a constant supply of new jobs in this field. 

There are a number of startups and big players that require data analysts in a large number. These companies are even offering good pay to fresh recruits. India has the highest number of data analytics jobs after the United States. One out of ten data science related job opening is from India. 

The pace of growth in the field of data science is quite surprising. If India succeeds in resolving this skills gap, Indian firms working in field of data science will be able to find competitive advantages and grow in the process.
