The crisis alert system was launched in September in the US, Japan and Korea to help users get crucial information from agencies like FEMA, during emergencies.
According to Cnet, the microblogging site has now extended its service to the UK, Ireland, Australia and Brazil apart from making the easier for users to subscribe to the alerts from the agencies and receive them on their iOS or Android app.
Twitter product manager Gabriela Pena said that they have added an in-app notification for iOS and users can go to a participating organization's profile and tap on the bell icon to subscribe to their notifications.
The alerts are received in the form of a SMS message or push notification that users receive directly to their iPhone or Android device, while within the Twitter app, the alerts are notified as an orange bell, the report added.
