India finally opened its doors to the latest product from Apple, the iPhone 6 on Friday midnight. TRS MP K Kavitha did the formal unveiling of iPhone 6 for Hyderabad, ceremoniously at Taj Vivanta. “We are an iPhone family, my father has it, brother has it, in fact the whole family has the same phone,” said the TRS leader and daughter of CMK Chandrasekhar Rao. “I can’t even imagine my life without an iPhone,” she added.

Amazon India is already said to have shipped the first batch of smartphones to buyers who have pre-ordered the phone.

Apple was geared up for the launch with recent reports indicating that it had shipped around 55,000 units to India ahead of the launch. Pre-orders for the new iPhones have crossed 21,000, so Apple has been ensuring that there are enough units in stock to last the expected weekend rush.
