Warangal: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has promised to present a ‘Golden Crown’ to presiding deity Bhadrakali at the historic Bhadrakali Temple on behalf of Telangana government. The Chief Minister along with his wife Shobha and family members visited the temple in Warangal on Sunday and offered prayers. On the day, he fulfilled a vow he made during a previous visit to the temple by performing ‘Sahashara Pushpabhishekam,’ He had offered silk clothes to the presiding deity.

Temple executive officer K Anjani Devi and trustee Bhadrakali Seshagiri Rao submitted a list of proposals to the Chief Minister for the temple development. They urged the government to develop Bhadrakali tank situated adjacent to the temple on the lines of Tank Bund in Hyderabad.

Construction of boarding facility to pilgrims, toilets, drinking water facility, a street around the temple, and widening of road leading to temple were among the proposals. They also asked the CM to construct a ‘Maharaja Gopuram’ on the lines of Kanchi Kamakshi, Madura Meenakshi Temples in Tamil Nadu.

An extent of 47.11 acres of land of the temple was being encroached and efforts should be made to recover the land. Construction of Yoga and Meditation Centre at the temple should also be considered, they said. Responding to the petition the CM promised to convene a meeting with the temple officials in Hyderabad soon and discuss about the problems and initiate measures to address them out in phased manner.
