Washington: Facebook has reportedly blocked several pages that seem to insult the Prophet Mohammed following orders by a Turkish court.

According to the Verge, the court had ordered Facebook to close the offending pages in a ruling handed down Sunday, threatening to block access to the social network if it failed to comply.
The move comes amid this month's attack on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo , believed to have been carried out in response to cartoons of Prophet Mohammed published by the magazine on its cover page.
Only week after the massacre, the magazine once again published a cartoon of a weeping Prophet, sparking outrage across the Islamic world.
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan condemned the new Charlie Hebdo cover on Twitter by accusing the publishers of "disregarding the sacred." He termed the move an "open incitement and provocation."
