They are often dubbed as lazy bones and tagged for their Chalta Hai attitude. But Hyderabadis have shown that they are tech savvy by downloading huge number of Android applications than netizens in most other Indian metros

Tech-savvy Hyderabadis last year downloaded more Android applications than denizens in most other metros, says a report from Freepaisa, an application tryout platform for Android devices. The study also threw light on device usage that of the three lakh actions performed through Freepaisa by users from Hyderabad, 23 per cent were performed on tablets testifying to the growing use of large screen devices. Hyderabadis also downloaded more gaming apps than most cities, other than Bengaluru.

Hinting at the growing prominence of e-commerce in the city, the Freepaisa quoted an Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) study released late last year that the number of online consumers would grow to 65 million in 2015 from 40 million in 2014, with smartphone and tablet users being strong growth drivers.

The Nizam's city is second only to Bengaluru in downloading shopping applications developed by e-commerce giants. The report captured that shopping itself accounts for 55 per cent downloads in 2014. The findings of the study are limited to downloads through the Freepaisa application. It is also ranked ahead of all cities in downloading utility apps. In the travel apps category, which accounted for 14 per cent of all app downloads in the country, the city ranked third, the Freepaisa report claims.
