Guangzhou, (China): Two restaurants in China were forced to shut operation due to poor performance by robotic waiters.

Both restaurants realised that their robotic waiters performance was not at par as they failed even to perform simple tasks like pouring of drinks. It was also observed that the robots were not that great while interacting with people.

Chinese restaurant chain Heweilai had bought several robots to perform the task of a waiter, the Verge reported.

According to the staff members of the restaurants, the robots were unable to pour hot water, carry soup, or take orders from restaurant patrons, and often broke down.

However, the maintenance and repair costs were lower than a human worker's salary.
