The search giant Google is rolling out a text messaging feature in its Maps app, which will make easier for you to connect with Businesses around you by. Last year Google launched a feature that enabled customers to send messages to Businesses from their Business Profiles on Google. Now the same has been integrated inside the Google Maps app. The users will start seeing those messages in the Maps app that they had with businesses and can continue chatting from there itself.

You will find the option in the side menu of Google Maps for both Android and iOS. Aditya Tendulkar, product manager at Google, wrote in an official blog post, “With these messages in Maps, you’ll never have to worry about accidentally sending “I love you, Mom” to that shoe store you’ve been sending messages to,”. Tendulkar added that this messaging feature will be rolling out to ‘additional countries worldwide’ but didn’t mention exactly which ones.

Though this was for the customers, businesses, on the other hand, can install the new Google My Business app from Google Play or the App Store to accept the messages sent from customers. “The new Google My Business app makes it even easier for businesses to stay connected with their customers in real-time and on the go,” explained Tendulkar.

Nevertheless, this is the first major update we are witnessing for Google Maps this month. The search giant is known for being consistent in updating the platform with latest features.
