IIMK LIVE, the Business Incubator and Entrepreneurship Development Centre of IIM Kozhikode today announced that a startup incubated by IIMK Live called, ‘Wudi’, has launched India’s first AI augmented career advisory program - ‘Career Mentor’. Wudi is an AI based talent and skill discovery platform. The program is in collaboration with Career Guru, a leading career guidance service provider in Kerala and the Middle Eastern countries.

Career Mentor is an amalgamation of career counseling expertise of Career Guru and Wudi’s AI platform. This program is first of its kind in India where an AI platform augments human driven sessions, workshops, training camps and field visits with a host of mentors, psychologists, trainers and industry experts as stakeholders. Targeted at students in the age group of 13-18 years, Career Mentor performs a holistic assessment of children using a mix of conventional and non-conventional methods. The underlying technology of Career Mentor is powered by Wudi.

“AI and machine learning is the new Buzz. At IIM Kozhikode, we are focusing on helping translate technology into commercial solutions. Startups, at our entrepreneurship development centre LIVE, not just gain from the institute, they also contribute to the growing influence of it,” said Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode

Speaking about Wudi, Professor Keyoor Purani, Executive Director, IIMK LIVE said, “Wudi is not just an incubatee start-up at IIMK LIVE but is also co-founded by an alumnus of IIM Kozhikode. It is indeed a matter pride for us that Wudi has launched a unique program that aims at providing career guidance to young aspirants building on their individual passion and performance. Traditional career counseling has largely been based on generalizations, which now has more limitations with wider choices of careers. Further, it is important to recognize that all individuals have a unique combination of skill-set and that their own behavior can better predict the skill-interest-career fit rather than any other thumb-rules. Wudi's AI-based skill-discovery algorithm combines profile and behavioral data from multiple sources to provide more meaningful recommendations to the students enabling them to make more appropriate career choices."

"Career Mentor's objective is to enable children to unravel the true potential within and help them make the right career decisions. Our learning is that consistent human interaction augmented by an AI system can provide phenomenal accuracy in skill discovery and career mentoring"; Arjun Hari, CEO, Wudi said.

Wudi is co-founded by siblings Arjun Hari, an IIMK alumnus and Nikita Hari, a scientist at Oxford University with a doctorate from the University of Cambridge. With a vision to reach 10,000 students by 2020, Career Mentor service can be availed across Kerala in India and in the Middle East starting from the upcoming academic year. Stratg Media, a Dubai based firm with decades of experience in the training sector will deliver the service in Gulf countries.
