Hyderabad: While accepting that the new government in Telangana State needs some more time to settle down, the opposition parties have started mounting pressure on the TRS government to implement the promises it made during its election campaign. Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address in the Assembly, the TDP and the BJP members said that the Governor’s address did not give any clarity on the farm loan waiver scheme. TDP floor leader E Dayakar Rao wanted to know when the government would regularise Anganwadi and Indira Kanthi Patham (IKP) workers.

He also sought to know when the government would implement loans for SHG women. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who intervened, asked the opposition members not to misguide the people by making wrong statements. “I did not promise regularisation of Anganwadi workers or waiving loans for SHG women. The TRS will implement every promise it made. I do not believe in making promises which I cannot fulfil,” the Chief Minister stated. He also denied having promised one job per family.

Referring to the recent goof-up by the government on the issue of farm loan waiver, the TDP floor leader described this as the selective ‘leak’ by the government, after meeting with the bankers. But KCR said that the Telangana State government was functioning without proper administrative set up where only 71 IAS officers including the Chief Secretary were there.

“The government has not even completed two weeks and you appear to be in a haste. Don’t get confused and confuse others in this way. It is you, who do leaks,” he replied. .But the opposition was not satisfied with the reply and said that neither the government nor the Governor’s address had given any clarity on how the government would solve the issue of power and free education.

Earlier, Congress member D K Aruna asked the government why the Governor did not mention anything about the help to martyrs families. She also wanted to know whether the government would revamp or discontinue the schemes initiated by the Congress government.
