Hyderabad: GHMC to Utilise SC/ST Sub-Plan Funds Fully, The 14th ordinary meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held on Saturday was momentous for many reasons.

Hyderabad: The 14th ordinary meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) held on Saturday was momentous for many reasons. The meeting, a first after the formation of the new state of Telangana was attended by three MPs, 11 MLAs and 4 MLCs, never before did so many elected representatives attended GHMC meeting. The meeting adopted a resolution, urging the GHMC Commissioner to utilise fully the budget allocation of Rs 260.04 crore for the welfare of Scheduled castes and Rs 94.04 crore for Scheduled Tribes. The meeting appealed to the Commissioner to provide minimum facilities for the people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes living in slums. The special allocations were made under SC/ST sub-plan.

A decision to this effect was also taken by which a detailed report on the amount spent for SC/ST sub plan is to be made ready within three working days. A committee comprising Deputy Mayor, all floor leaders headed by the Mayor would monitor utilization of the funds for the year 2014-15. The Additional Commissioners was authorities to sanction funds up to Rs 10 lakhs.

Earlier, Mohd Naseeruddin raised the issue of the maintenance works of religious places before Ramzan and Bonalu festivals and the Mayor asked the corporators to conduct a survey and report at the earliest. While revoking the earlier resolution No 356 of 2013, the corporation approved the incentives to all the executive staff i.e, bill collectors, tax inspectors, valuation officer, deputy commissioner without insisting on the approval from the government. Further, it was decided that owners of all the structures demolished for road widening should be paid compensation within 15 days and the process of shifting of electric poles should be completed in a fortnight.
There are already two Land Acquisition units operating in GHMC which is unable to meet the requirements. Therefore the Corporation unanimously resolved to establish the 3rd unit for land acquisition.
