Why Congress Party Took Back Foot In Council Chairman’s Election? At the last minute, the Congress Party have revoked their decision to contest for the Chairman post of Telangana Legislative Council, on Wednesday.

Congress PartyHyderabad: At the last minute, the Congress Party have revoked their decision to contest for the Chairman post of Telangana Legislative Council, on Wednesday. This incident for sure poses a doubt why Congress Party had opted to contest; and why did they wait till the last minute. The reason is logical and rather very simple. Apart from the own strength of TRS, the candidature of Swamy Goud had the support of 3 TDP, 2 MIM and 3 independent MLCs. So, the required majority was there for the TRS Party when the Congress Party MLCs who recently joined TRS and the support of two other MLCs of Congress Party namely Yadav Reddy and Rajeshwar was also considered.

In view of the above, a sure defeat for the Congress Party MLC Farooq was inevitable. In such a situation, the Congress Party had acted tactically and withdrawn from the poll, stating that the process of secret balloting was undemocratic for the election of Council Chairman. D Srinivas has walked out from the house in protest against the same.

Thus, Congress Party has succeeded in bringing out the alleged political game played by the TRS Party to grab the Council Chairman’s post; and also laid a pathway to initiate an action against the MLCs of their party for supporting the candidature of TRS Party’s Swamy Goud. This was indeed a victory in failure for the Congress Party!!
