New Delhi: Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy, leading a high-level delegation, urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to keep the seven mandals in Khammam district in Telangana, falling under the Polavaram submergence area with the Centre, instead of transferring the same to Andhra Pradesh.

Once the submergence issues are sorted out, then these mandals could be returned to Telangana. Home Minister Rajnath Singh is understood to have assured the Telangana BJP leaders that the issue would be discussed in the party.

At the head of Telangana BJP delegation comprising of MPs, MLAs and State unit office-bearers, Kishan Reddy requested Rajnath Singh to reconsider the Bill to replace the Ordinance on Polavaram promulgated earlier during the upcoming Parliament Session. The Sileru Project falls in the region and with Telangana facing acute power crisis, it wiykd benefit as a result, he said.

Kishan Reddy also urged the Home Minister that cases booked by the Railways against the Telangana activists during the Telangana Movement should be withdrawn.
The BJP delegation met a number of Central Ministers and sought various projects and funds for the development of the newly-carved out Telangana State. It was pointed out that the State was in need of liberal Central assistance.

Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari promised to order a feasibility study for inland transport on River Godavari, since Telangana has no ports and water transport. Gadkari also promised the Hyderabad-Srisailam National Highway will be a cement road.

Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati was urged to expedite the pending irrigation projects in Telangana, which have not yet taken off. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan promised to look into the issue of increasing the medical seats in Telangana, but asked the Telangana Government to comply with the Medical Council of India standards inproviding the basic amenities. The Health Minister wanted to identify 200 acres land fr the proposed AIIMS in Telangana and he also promised to look into the demand for Health University.

Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said Telangana will gets its share of the 100 Smart Cities. He is also studying satellite towns and solid waste management, as well.

HRD Minister Smriti Irani agreed to the demand for Tribal University in Telangana, besides setting up of Skill Development Centres. So far there is no proposal on IIM in Telangana is what Smriti Irani reportedly told Kishen Reddy.

Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda was told of the several pending projects in Telangana. To this, Gowda said the outstanding projects promised in the previous Railway Budgets account for Rs 5,60,000 crore, while the Railway income was Rs 29,000 crore and it would take 20 years to complete the same. Gowda said railway safety is his priority but he would look into the railway projects in Telangana, as it is a new State.
