Hyderabad: Despite an existing rule of not setting up a wine shop near the educational institutions, temples, residential areas and the hospitals, it seems that there no control over the violators who set up their stalls near the mentioned areas. In Hyderabad, at every nook and corner we can find a liquor shop which is set up in the vicinity of schools, temples or the residential areas.

Even the new Telangana government that has come up with a new excise policy to encourage setting up of liquor shops to get the revenue flowing, had not focussed on the banning of setting up of the liquor shops in the aforementioned areas, strictly.

Unfortunately, most of the wine shops are located in between the residential areas to facilitate the consumers; and the authorities also pay no attention to such violations and everything goes unseen. If the areas near Uppal on the Warangal Highway are concerned, most of the wine shops are located near to the schools or other public and residential areas, which is a clear violation of the rules imposed. In the past, a drive has been taken up in the said area, but that was a matter of few days. Few things get transformed twice to retain the original status. It was the case with the liquor shops as well.
