Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said that a Telangana Drinking Water Grid would be created at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore to provide drinking water to all TS people.

Addressing a press conference after a day-long tour of Karimnagar, KCR said once the grid was formed, Telangana would not have water woes. The problem of drinking water would be solved with the help of 160 TMC of water, secured from both Krishna and Godavari. The Chief Minister would lay the foundation stone for the project at Nalgonda soon.

KCR also promised that five Corporations of Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad and Ramagundam would be developed as per with international standards.

The Chief Minister said tourism at Karimnagar would get a boost as the government proposes to develop the area near Lower Manair Dam on the lines of Brindavan Gardens of Mysore. It would also have boating facility and would become one of the top domestic tourist destinations.

The temple town of Vemulavada would also be developed on the lines of Tirupati, with street lights, guest houses and improved sanitation.

He said the government would also give orders for taking up survey on the Rodlavagu irrigation projects and added the Karimnagar hospital would be developed on par with NIMS of Hyderabad. While the construction of new hospital for Singareni Collieries would support the medical facilities in the district.

The towns of Peddapally, Husnabad and Manthani would be the other towns getting 50 to 100-bedded hospitals.

The Chief Minister assured that the government was committed to farm loan waiver as Cabinet took a decision on this issue. The Agriculture and Finance Departments were already working over the issue.

He reiterated that the power problem would persist for months to come, as the previous governments failed to take necessary measures to ensure adequate power supply.

On the issue of Integrated Household Survey (IHS), the Chief Minister once again asked the people take it seriously and not to venture outside their houses lest they lose their count.

Challenging the AP government on the issue of EAMCET, the Telangana government would take the issue to Supreme Court on August 11.
