Hyderabad: T. Rajaiah, one of the Deputy Chief Ministers of Telangana, on Tuesday urged the people to cooperate to their best for the Household Survey. He addressed the media on Tuesday at Telangana Bhavan and said that the survey will be very useful for the government to know what are all required by the people, to serve them in a better way. He said that holiday has been declared for all government and private organisations on August 19.
It is worth recollecting that a couple of days back the other Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana state Mehmood Ali iterated that the state-wide intensive household survey on August 19 was not intended to determine nativity of people as thought by some sections.
He said that all such misconceptions are bound to disappear soon. He said the people can be ready with the information needed including the Aadhar number.
It may be recalled that the format has no column to seek places of birth or income of individuals. It would only record the profile of family, social status (SC, ST, BC, OBC), religion, residential address, number of members, age, sex, education qualifications, occupation, employment/profession/ self-employment, assets such as land holdings, category such as assigned, Inam, IKP, Podu, tenant farmer, own or rented house, vehicles, details of disabled, migrant families, those settled from other States, spoken language, the year of migration etc., among other things.
The intention behind the data collection is to enable the government to assess the income and economic status of households based on assets and identifies the beneficiaries for housing, white ration cards, pensions, fee reimbursement etc., based on the data furnished by the individuals. It is also said that those who furnish false information are liable for prosecution.
It is evident that KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, has been reiterating that there were more ration cards than the number of families in the state. Of course, there is a need to curb the corruption at all levels.
