Hyderabad: Thanking people of the State for showing overwhelming response to the Intensive Household Survey by taking part in it, Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said this 'super-hit' survey should be an eye-opener for not only those who opposed it but to other States to follow it for stopping pilferage in government schemes. He promised to deliver a 'Golden Telangana' if people supported him similarly in the future.
KCR, while speaking to newsmen at his official residence in the evening, said that several AP leaders and film actor Junior NTR also submitted details. Many families having roots in Seemandhra region also enrolled their names voluntarily.
The Chief Minister thanked the government employees, engineering college students, private teachers and resident welfare associations for making the survey a grand success.
He, however, said people who have abstained from the survey had committed a social crime. “If they do not want to be counted as part of Hyderabad or Telangana State, the government can’t help it,” he said.
KCR pointed out that few persons told enumerators that they do not want any welfare schemes of the government.
However, one should understand that the correct data of the citizens especially in Hyderabad would offer the government to take all required measures in development activities like construction of roads, drinking water and sewerage lines etc.
He noted that this survey helped the civic body realise the exact number of families residing in Hyderabad. Although the figure with GHMC showed 15.82 lakh families, survey proved that an additional two to three lakh were present in the State capital, he said.
“According to census, Hyderabad population stood between 70 and 80 lakh. However, the exact figure emerged through this survey was 1.2 crore including floating population,” he informed.
Survey to be extended, if needed
Further, KCR noted that Chief Secretary would take a call whether or not to extend survey in missed out areas. The correct figure of surveys in all districts would reach Hyderabad by Tuesday night.
The Chief Secretary would conduct a review meeting on Wednesday and take a call.
Meanwhile, KCR also made an announcement that Muslim families would be extended financial assistance of Rs 51,000 at the time of their daughter’s marriage. In the name of offering gifts worth Rs 25,000, previous governments used to buy material from Jummerat Bazaar. This practice would be discarded by TRS government. Also, SC and ST families would be given the same amount (Rs 51,000) as part of Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. One thousand additional amount would be offered to the earlier announced Rs 50,000, he added.
KCR said that decision was taken not to conduct survey in seven mandals of Khammam district that were added to Andhra Pradesh. Replying to a query, he said that it was not necessary to undertake survey in area that was merged with neighbouring State. Parliament approved it and president ratified it, he added.
Will not spare even my family, if guilty
The Chief Minister said this survey was meant to separate cheaters and illegal beneficiaries of government schemes. He pointed out that he would not spare his family members if they were found guilty of any wrongdoing.
