Khammam: District task force team conducted a special drive and admitted six street children in schools on Tuesday. The task force comprises officers of different government departments and NGOs. Members of the task force visited the surroundings of Edulapuram Cross Roads and Venkatagiri Cross Roads.

They visited 15 families near Edulapuram Cross Roads and 50 families near Venkatagiri. These families have migrated to Khammam from NTR Colony in Sattupalli six years ago. According to Alternative Schools district coordinator K Suresh, the task force secured the details of financial status and school-going children from the families.


They also secured details of children in the age group of 0 to 6 and 6 to 14. During the visit to the areas, members of the task force identified 10 street children residing in the localities. Among these children, three children were admitted to Urban Residential School being run under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan. Three other children were admitted to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV).
