Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has decided that it will not plead the case of retaining some of the All India Service officers who opted for Telangana cadre but were allotted to Andhra Pradesh.

According to Minister for Information and Technology K T Rama Rao the government is of the view that the AIS officers should work anywhere. Rao stated this while speaking to scribes on the sidelines of a function organised to sign a MoU with three prestigious city-based institutions to develop an incubation centre that aims to boost entrepreneurship in the capital.

It may be mentioned here that TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had handpicked some IAS officers including Principal Secretary (Agriculture and Marketing) Poonam Malakondaiah, Higher Education secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary (Welfare) T Radha, Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) MD Jayesh Ranjan, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and Nizamabad Collector Ronald Ross but in the process of division of AIS officers undertaken by the panel appointed by the Centre, they have been allotted to AP cadre. KTR said that states could do little in this regard since the ball was now in the court of the Centre controlled Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). It was highly impossible to effect changes once the DoPT took a decision, he said.
