Hyderabad: Telangana State government has reiterated its commitment to waive of farm loans even if the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) does not agree for their rescheduling.

Briefing media after a meeting with bankers, Finance Minister Etela Rajender said the government had told the RBI that if it does not agree rescheduling of loans, the government would issue bonds to the farmers. He said he had also urged the RBI to direct the banks to issue fresh loans to farmers. He also added that the modalities of implementing the scheme were yet to be finalised and asked the members of the sub-committee on farm loans to discuss the issue with the officials concerned and finalise the ways and means to implement the scheme. He said the sub-committee meeting on Wednesday with officials concerned would be chaired by the Irrigation Minister and requested the bankers to take part in it, as the meeting would take a call on the modalities in the implementation of the scheme.
