Clarity on loan waiver in 2-3 days: Pocharam

Hyderabad: Telangana State Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy stated that Cabinet sub-committee, appointed on farm loan waiver, would give clarity on guidelines in the next two to three days. Further, he said they would submit report to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao earlier than the stipulated time i.e., September 30. Members of the committee consisting of chairman Pocharam, Ministers T Harish Rao, Etela Rajender held a meeting in this connection at Dr Marri Chenna Reddy HRD Institute in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday. They discussed about RBI’s non-inclination and bankers’ reservations in rescheduling of loans in 10 districts and alternatives before the government.

Briefing members of the media post the meeting, Agriculture Minister said they received information of beneficiaries from various districts and were examining all options before the government. Despite stiff resistance by Apex bank to lend assistance, State government is committed to go ahead with rescheduling of loans in few districts, initially, he added. He pointed out that loan waiver would be applicable to farmers who took loans for agricultural investment from urban banks.
