Nizamabad: Bathukamma celebrations organised by the HMTV and The Hans India here drew huge crowds on Thursday. The celebrations were conducted on a grand scale.
The celebrations, held on Collectorate grounds here, witnessed thousands of women playing Bathuk amma. City Mayor Akula Sujatha, District Collector Ronald Ross, MLC Viji Goud, Zilla Parishad Vice-Chairman Gaddam Sumana Reddy, TPCC Women wing president Akula Lalitha, corporators Visalini Reddy, Sudam Lakshmi, IKP PD Venkatesam, MEPMA PD Satyannarayana and members of Congress and TRS parties enthusiastically participated. Earlier a large number of women took part in rallies through the city. The Bathukamma was brought from Mayor’s residence to the Collectorate. People turned up in large numbers to witness the event by HMTV and The Hans India.
The Mayor and Collector hailed HMTV management for organising the Telangana State festival on such a grand manner. Along with the local people, members of NGOs, government employees, DWCRA members and others took part in the event with great zeal.
