Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the Bench and Bar to play active role in resolving the issue of lakhs of acres of government lands entangled in litigation in various courts. Speaking at the 150th anniversary of City Civil Courts on Saturday, he said early resolution of the litigation involving government lands would pave the way for building golden Telangana.

KCR said that the erstwhile Nizam State had left nearly one crore acres of land for establishing an independent judiciary, but after Telangana got merged with Andhra Pradesh those lands were encroached upon in a big way, by creating fake documents, he alleged and added the government still has a land bank of nearly 30 lakh acres. However, litigation in various courts has turned out to be an obstacle to the development of the State, he felt.

He further added the government was working on a single window industrial policy to attract huge investments to give a fillip to the development. However, this would be possible only when the investors’ confidence was won by establishing a corrupt-free environment.

Pointing out that even the lands of E N T Hospital have been encroached, he appealed to the advocates and judges to help the government to see that the pending cases were cleared so that government could usher in a new era of development in the State. The Chief Minister added the government was planning to shift the existing government press and Chanchalguda Jail to Cherlapalli, and promised to construct a huge and spacious court complex on the land that would be vacated by the printing press.

He further promised the advocates to release funds for the advocate welfare fund, and constitute annual ‘Best Advocate Award’ of one lakh rupees to encourage and recognise the services of the lawyers in civil, criminal and other branches of legal practices, and assured to consider issue of health cards to advocates.

KCR also said he had asked the Centre to speed up the formation of a separate High Court for Telangana, and made it clear to the Union government, if this demand was not met then another agitation would have to be launched.
