Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Telangana government on Sunday decided to bring a legislation that would detest men from indulging in any kind of crime or violence against women.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao told the party executive and politburo meeting that he wanted to send across a clear message that if any one cast an evil eye over any girl or women, he would face toughest punishment. “I will not hesitate to pull eyes out. The punishment would be that tough,” he said in harsh voice.
He said he was fully aware that when he used such words, it would spark a controversy but that was the warning he wanted to give to the criminals in Telangana State. He said it was a matter of shame if women had no protection. “All of us have wives and daughters and it is their fundamental right to move around freely,” Rao added.
Rao called upon the party workers to rededicate themselves in the process of building Bangaru Telangana and said he had decided to fill 4,000 odd nominated posts and that each district would get about 300 posts soon. He said he was well aware of leaders and activists who had been with him since 2001. Priority would be given to them in nominated posts, he said.
The Chief Minister also announced that his government would introduce free land distribution scheme to STs similar to his flagship scheme to SCs that was rolled out on the Independence's Day this year. He further added that separate budget would also be allocated for this purpose.
Rao appealed to NRIs and industrialists to part with their ‘unused lands’ which could be utilised for land distribution scheme. He minced no words in slamming Opposition parties for targeting the ruling party time and again.
Citing power situation, Rao said that the Congress wanted TRS to solve all problems instantly which they could not do in the last ten years. “People very well know who are committed and who are just speaking to the galleries,” he said adding that rival parties were in a frustrated state of mind and hence were resorting to such tactics.
He stated that he had been sensitising people about power woes in Telangana which would be completely overcome in three years time.
Even action against engineering colleges devoid of requisite standards was made a big issue by Opposition parties. “Even a college related to Transport Minister Mahender Reddy was not spared by the technical committee, that is our commitment,” he said.
“Some are comparing me with Hitler for my decisions. Is it wrong to set right the wrongs of the past,” he asked.
KCR lamented that lack of enough bureaucrats was seriously hampering his administration. Government is left to manage with just 35 odd bureaucrats despite passage of three months since formation of Telangana, he said.
Rao pointed out about 45 key decisions including loan waiver promise taken by his government despite many shortcomings.
Inrestingly, within hours of hugging AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu at Alai Balai programme, Rao lashed at Naidu. He alleged Naidu of conspiring against Telangana interests. Naidu's unilateral actions could be gauged from Polavaram issue which resulted in losing of 450 MW Siler power plant to AP or cancellation of PPAs, he added.
