PMO team visits Hyderabad; talks held with TS officials

Hyderabad: In the wake of controversies surrounding Hyderabad Metro Rail for the past one month, the Union government has intervened to ensure the prestigious project finished on time.

Accordingly, the Projects Monitoring Cell officials attached to Prime Minister's Office visited Hyderabad on Monday and held discussions with the State government in this regard.

The Centre delegation consisted of Additional Secretary Anil Swaroop and three higher officials while Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma represented the Telangana government. They discussed about bottlenecks being faced in handing over lands near Iskcon Temple-Secunderabad, Begumpet and few other stretches.

It may be mentioned here that L&T Limited, the project concessionaire, was getting worried about completion of works before 2017 deadline due to problems in land acquisition in certain areas.

L&T officials, who also took part in the meeting, brought this issue to the notice of the Central

delegation.

In response, Rajiv Sharma assured them that land acquisition issues would be solved at the earliest to facilitate HMR works went on smoothly.

Earlier to this meeting, Telangana CS held discussions with HMR and project concessionaire officials on the progress of the project.
