Warangal: The district Telugu Desam Party leaders on Monday demanded the TRS government to immediately convene the State Assembly’s budget session.

For the past four months, the government was depending on the Governor to approve funds to various departments. This trend was unprecedented, the leaders averred.

Speaking to press persons, senior TDP leaders E Dayakar Rao, R Prakash Reddy, Seetakka and G Satynarayana Rao said convening the Assembly was must as issues like power shortage, MPS to cotton, maize and others need to be discussed.“It is shameful and unconstitutional that the government is being run without having budget approvals,” they said. It should hold an all-party meeting to discuss the power supply.

They objected to Finance Minister Etela Rajender’s remarks that the proposed power purchase from Chhattisgarh was dropped due to naxal threat.

“When ministers say the government was following the naxal agenda how could naxals become a problem,” they wondered.

“This is ridiculous. One minister says naxals were causing problem to sort out the power situation, while CM KCR blames Chandrababu Naidu for the power crisis in Telangana,” said Dayakar Rao. When the CM himself stated that none could overcome the power crisis in three years, how could ministers blame Naidu and naxals for it, he sought to know. Rao alleged that KCR dropped the plan to secure power from Chattisgarh since his relatives could not secure the tender for the distribution line.

He claimed that the power crisis deepened because of the government laxity, inefficiency and lack of vision. AP too faced power shortage, but it was able to manage because of Naidu’s planning.

The leaders alleged that the government claimed paying Rs 4,050 a quintal of cotton, but nowhere farmers were getting the amount. Similarly, the government claimed to buy maize at Rs 1,310, but farmers were getting only Rs 900.

Referring to TRS MP Kadiam Srihari’s challenge to Dayakar Rao for an open debate on power, the leaders wanted him to obtain an authorization letter from KCR to take part in the debate.

“We have seen what happened to Deputy CM Dr T Rajaiah and Finance Minister E Rajender for acting independently,” stated Dayakar Rao. He reiterated that if given an opportunity, he would solve the power crisis within a month in Telangana. “Otherwise I will quit politics.”
