Against fee reimbursement

Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna demanding immediate release of fee reimbursement arrears at Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) at Masab Tank here on Monday.

About 50 students barged into the Council raising slogans against the government and TSCHE. The protesting students said that the government and higher education council have failed to curb the harassment by the BEd college managements on students over the fee. They also demanded extension for BEd admissions and last date for procuring income tax.

Niranjan J, secretary, ABVP, demanded that last date for admissions for BEd admissions be extended. He also said that the government must take an action on the colleges who were charging fee from the fee reimbursement beneficiaries.

“Though the government had directed managements not to collect fee from the star coined students, they are still doing so. The government has to direct the college managements not to charge the college from the students who come under FAST. Not just students with star coined, the government has to reimburse whoever is eligible for the scheme,” he added.

Responding positively to the demands put forward by the students, TSCHE chairman Prof. T Papi Reddy said that he would discuss with the concerned ministers and resolve the issue.
