Hyderabad: The MLAs of Telangana unit of Telugu Desam on Thursday staged a dharna at the State Secretariat as they were denied a meeting with Principal Secretary, Energy S K Joshi.

MLAs led by their floor leader, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, reached the chamber of SK Joshi and wanted to submit a memorandum on the power crisis in the State. They said they were given appointment but it was unfortunate that the official did not respect his word.

The agitated MLAs sat in front of the Secretary’s chamber and raised slogans against the Chief Minister.

Dayakar Rao told media all that they were demanding was that the government addresses the problems of farmers immediately. The legislators finally handed over a copy of their memorandum to the staff in the Secretary’s office. On the other hand, TS Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said the T TDP leaders should understand that the power crisis in Telangana State was mostly because of the adamant attitude of the AP Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu who was not honouring the AP State Re-organisation Act and was denying power to the new State. He said they should protest in front of the chamber of Naidu not before the chambers of TS officers or Ministers.

MLAs, who took part in the protest, included – A Revanth Reddy, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, Prakash Goud, Gaddam Sayanna and Maganti Gopinath. Newly anointed president of Greater Hyderabad TDP unit T Krishna Yadav also took part in the protest.
