Ensure pensions to all eligible persons: Minister

Jagdish Reddy addresses review meeting of RDOs, Tahsildars & MDOs

Nalgonda: Education Minister G Jagdish Reddy on Saturday asked the district officials to ensure that all eligible persons received pensions.

Addressing a review meeting of RDOs, Tahsildars and MPDos in the collectorate, he wanted them to follow all government instructions for making sure that the welfare schemes reached the needy.

The minister stated that the government had raised the pension amount from Rs.200 to Rs.1,000 to provide relief to the poor, particularly those without support and shelter, besides widows. He asked officials to complete the verification of pensioners by the month-end to make sure that the payments were made in November.

Reddy observed that the government employees could work without fear of party interference and take care to implement the welfare schemes. He said the recent comprehensive household survey had helped the administration to have clarity on the number of families in the State.

Collector Chirajeevulu said applications were received from 10.20 lakh persons for food security cards and 5.20 lakh seeking pensions.
