Dattatreya, Kishan Reddy, Laxman join protests in front of collectorates

Warangal/Hyderabad/Nalgonda: Many BJP activists were arrested on Tuesday, including leaders like B Dattatreya, MP, Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy and Dr K Laxman, MLA, when they demonstrated before collectorates in Warangal, Hyderabad and Nalgonda against power cuts. They demanded power supply to farmers for seven hours. In Warangal mild tension prevailed as the activists, including Dattatreya, were taken into custody after they attempted to lay siege to the collectorate. Ealier, they took out a massive rally from Ekasila Park.

Party district president A Ashok Reddy, City president Ch Sunil, former MLAs V Sriramulu and S Jaipal, former MP Ch Janga Reddy, and leaders T Rajeshwara Rao, Rau Padma took part in the demonstration.

The activists were taken to Subedari police station. Speaking to the media, the leaders condemned the arrest, saying they were just holding a peaceful protest.

Addressing the party workers at Ekasila Park, Dattatreya promised to take up with Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh the purchase of cotton by CCI with higher moisture content.

In Hyderabad efforts by Telangana party leaders to lay siege to the Ranga Reddy collectorate was foiled by the police, who took Kishan Reddy, former State president N Indrasena Reddy and other leaders into custody. The activists marched to the collectorate from Lakdikapul railway station.

Addressing participants in the dharna before the Nalgonda collectorate, Dr Laxman alleged that many farmers were committing suicide because of the government’s ‘faulty’ policies.

He accused the administration of trying to withdraw welfare schemes to all sections.
