Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao held a marathon meeting with party MLAs and MLCs on wide-ranging issues at Telangana Bhavan here on Friday.

The meeting mainly focussed its attention on the party strategy to turn the tables on the opposition, which is gearing up to put the government in the dock during the maiden budget session which is likely to begin from November 5. Also among the issues that figured at the meeting were proposal to install solar-powered pump sets for irrigation, increase in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore and transfer of officials for not cooperating with people’s representatives.

The meeting requested the CM to increase the amount of CDF to Rs 1.5 crore in the wake of a large number of applications that were pouring in, seeking assistance for developmental works. The CM had asked them to prepare detailed proposals for constituency-level development. Accordingly, they submitted the reports to KCR and sought more funds. KCR also sought the opinion of members on the installation of solar pump sets to encourage use of renewable energy in view of power crisis. The government wants to install 20 lakh pump sets in the next two years. Unanimously, the meeting urged the CM to take it up forthwith. The CM asked the MLAs and the MLCs to prepare thoroughly and counter the opposition on every issue during debates in the Assembly and the Council. Rao informed the MLAs that the session was likely to begin on November 5 and conclude in the fourth week of the same month.

During discussions, it is learnt, MLAs from Mahabubnagar district urged the CM to induct one of them into the cabinet immediately as the district has zero representation.

Rao asked all the leaders to submit their views on the transfer of officials at local level, in week. He also sought a list of officials who were not cooperating with them. Interestingly, TDP MLAs Teegala Krishna Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Dharma Reddy who had recently switched loyalties to TRS also came to TRS Bhavan but did not attend the meeting.

They said they would officially join the party at a public meeting to be organised in the city soon.
