Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali holds TRS responsible for farmers’ suicides in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is contemplating to file a case of cheating against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao alleging that he had made false promises in the party manifesto.

At a media conference here on Saturday, senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali said KCR had cheated the people of Telangana, especially farmers, by making non-practical promises on supplying power.

He said though the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was aware of the impending problems with regard to availability of power in the post bifurcation scenario, for the sake of votes it had promised eight-hour free power, but in practice it had failed to implement it.

At present, the government was not able to give more than three hours of power, he said. The Congress leader said the TRS’ false promises drove several farmers to suicide and subjected others to severe hardship.

Responding to Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao's allegations that the Congress was responsible for the present situation, Shabbir Ali said the TRS government was not willing to take responsibility for anything.

“They are only blaming everyone for their misdeeds. They say that Congress was responsible for power shortage in the State which had resulted in farmers’ suicides. So far, the government has not embarked on governance,” he added.

Shabbir Ali asked Rama Rao to focus on plugging loopholes in the administration instead of indulging in blame game.
