Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday made a fresh promise that drinking water tap connections would be given to every household in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in four years.

Laying the foundation stone for drinking water project taken up at the cost of Rs 350 crore at Malkajigiri area in the city, he said his government had taken up Telangana water grid project under which all the houses would be connected with round-the-clock water supply network.

The big challenge before the government was to ensure all the houses get connected with the drinking water network, the Chief Minister said adding that if he failed to fulfil the promise, the TRS would stay away from taking part in any election in the GHMC limits after four years. KCR held the previous TDP and Congress governments responsible for the present drinking water crisis in the State capital. People dwelled like orphans in their own city in united Andhra state, he said and added that his government would make Hyderabad ‘the city of joy' by providing all basic amenities.

KCR to meet C’garh CM today
Hyderabad: As part of two-day official visit, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday reached Chhattisgarh. KCR, accompanied by an official delegation, is scheduled to enter into an MoU with the neighbouring State for supply of required power.

An official release said here that KCR would meet his counterpart Raman Singh on Monday and enter into the agreement on power supply to Telangana which was facing severe energy crisis after the bifurcation of AP. Telangana is seeking 1000 MW of power supply from Chhattisgarh to meet the growing power demand in future. On the first day of his visit, the Chief Minister toured Durg and Bennetra districts to study the horticulture taken up in a big way to promote vegetable cultivation and protect the farmers from debt trap. Earlier, he was received by Chhattisgarh officials at Raipur airport before proceeding to the districts. State Finance Minister E Rajendar and TSGENCO Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao and other officials were among others accompanied the CM.
