The budget tabled by Finance Minister Etela Rajender was nothing but a gimmick of numbers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had once again cheated the people of Telangana. The government neglected backward communities in budget they said while interacting with the media.

Rao said there was a mismatch between the allocations and promises made by KCR. It was a budget prepared for CM’s son K Taraka Rama Rao and son-in-law T Harish Rao, as higher allocations were made their portfolios.

Allocations made to SCs,STs and minorities were just an eye wash. The allocation of Rs 3,000 crore for power was not enough to meet farmers’ subsidy and improve the infrastructure, he explained.

Reddy demanded the government to reveal details of revenue flows during the past five months so as to assess the government’s ability to generate funds for fulfilling the budget allocations. “Revenues were dwindling, but there were no proposals to address it,” he said.

“It was the first budget in the country not prepared by the Finance Minister, the CM meddled with it. Expressions of the Finance Minister while he was presenting the budget clearly showed that he had no role in its preparation,” he stated.

The kharif crop yield had drastically came down and it would have serious impact on the purchasing power of the public. Besides, the IT revenues had fallen. The government should explain how it proposes to meet the deficit, he demanded.

Rao and Reddy launched the party membership drive in the district. “Membership fee is Rs 100. It gives an insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh in case of death and Rs 50,000 for an accident.” They said The party would to fight for the rights of the poor in Telangana.

Party leaders Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, B Mohan Naik, D Sambaiah, P Ashok Kumar, E Mallesham were present.
