MIM backs TRS in Assembly; Owaisi slams Opposition

The TRS government on Friday received unconditional support from the MIM in the Legislative Assembly when the former was cornered by the opposition over the issue of farmer suicides and the power crisis. MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi backed the TRS government alleging that the opposition party’s agitation was only a “drama and a tamasha”. He added that the opposition parties would have made good use of the Question Hour if they had genuine intentions.

Floor leaders of Congress, TDP and the BJP K. Jana Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao and K. Laxman made scathing remarks against the TRS government saying that the latter had failed to address the farmers’ issues. After a prolonged onslaught of comments, Owasi took the lead and slammed the opposition.

Pointing to the opposition members, Owaisi said, “Your protest at the podium is nothing but a drama and a tamasha. On one hand you demand debate on farmers’ suicides and power crisis and on the other you stall the important Question Hour, in which there are two questions over these issues. Had you allowed the Question Hour, you would have got the chance to bring these issues to the notice of the government and to get a reply from it. But it seems you are not interested or concerned about these issues.”
