Hyderabad: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) here on Monday issued a notice to students for staging a street play near library.

A theatre group of the university showcased 'Kissa Kursi Ka'— a play describing autocratic administration of the varsity.

Deputy proctor of the university in a notice stated that no permission was sought for organising a street play.
Conducting a play without permission is against the rules. “It is communicated that with the university end-semester exams fast approaching, such activities near the library which may lead to inciting students are deemed illegal and banned,” the notice read. It also said students participating or committing such acts would be strictly dealt with as per the disciplinary rules of the university. “First of all, the university is least bothered to conduct any awareness programme on the campus. When students came forward to bring awareness through street plays, the university has put up a notice,” rued a PhD scholar, who requested anonymity.

Students alleged that varsity officials threatened with a show cause notice to the students who have enacted and participated in the play.

Meanwhile, the faculty members of EFLU organised an open house for the students to discuss gender-related issues. Students have discussed their concerns and problems in the university and unanimously demanded the university to activate Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) immediately.
