Hyderabad: TRS says one should follow the English manifesto in regard to the promises it had made on loan waiver as some printing errors were there in the Telugu Manifesto.
Stating this in the state Assembly on Monday, TS Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that one should follow the promises made by the TRS as mentioned in the English version of the manifesto which clearly states what it had promised.
He was rebutting the allegations of the opposition Congress and TDP members that the scheme was not being implemented and that the farmers were committing suicides on account of delay in waiving off the loans and also that the government had left certain sections out from the scheme.
Rao said that after assuming office the government had started implementing the scheme in true spirit and was the only state in the country to waive off over Rs 17,000 crore loans in a single go. He also utilised the occasion to lambast the AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu saying that he had made tall promises before elections but so far did not waive off even a single rupee worth of loan.
However, KCR admitted that there were certain problems being faced by the farmers from some banks and assured that the issues pointed out by the opposition members would be looked into and all steps to ensure that the scheme was implemented would be taken, he added.
KCR assured that fresh loans would be provided to non- tribal farmers in agency areas particularly in Khammam, Adilabad and Warangal districts. Agriculture Minister P Srinivasa Reddy said that the process for the waiver of loans would be completed by November end. However, the Congress party staged a walk-out alleging that the government did not waive off the loans in one single instalment.
