It is pitiful to shun Telugu to learn English.”

It is pitiful to shun Telugu to learn English.”

While Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been contemplating turning all government schools into English medium, the minister said that he would speak to KCR to make sure that children learn Telugu compulsorily till Class III. Jagadish announced that the government has been mulling on the new project called Samskruthika Saradhi, which would provide employment to 500 artistes in the State.

KV Ramana Chary, advisor to the State government, appealed to the government to provide employment opportunities to the students who are passing out of the University. Potti Sriramulu Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Elluri Siva Reddy appealed to the government to look into pending promotions of the officials. He also urged the government to improve the wages of the employees working in the university.

During the event, noted Oggu-Katha artiste Chukka Sattaiah was felicitated with Visistha Puraskaram. Famous balladeer Goreti Venkanna enthralled the audience with his rendition of “Vagu Yendi Payara”. The celebrations also witnessed various folk dance and song performances by the students of the University.
